Westport to Sligo
Leaving Connemara behind and heading in a more direct route than the previous days the tour continues along some extremely pleasant roads. From Westport there are undulating country roads through pastoral rolling hillside which give way to more dramatic scenery around Croaghmoyle mountain and on past the lovely “Lough Conn”. The day’s cycling ends in the lively town of Sligo which has a great reputation for its live music. (Description based on route notes from Peak Tours).

Lovely day cycling through the country side – no rain, mainly cloud but some sunshine too! Staying in the Glasshouse hotel on the riverside. As usual had a few beers, a great Italian meal at Rugantino’s in Sligo, then a walk round where I saw an unusual wolf mural, swans with signets and another pint of Smithwicks Red ale in the hotel with some other cyclists just to ‘cap the night off’.
