The Italian Job – day 4

Mantova to Guiglia

The longest day in terms of mileage and although the route is flat for the majority of the day there is a sting in the tail right at the very end of the day to get to Guiglia and the Appenino mountains. The day is spent crossing the Po plain so the cycling is easy although the scenery isn’t as spectacular as some of the other days. Lots of navigation is required.  (Description based on route notes from Peak Tours).

Route from Mantova to Guiglia (82 miles):

Elevation profile (ascent ~1800 feet):

The scenery was not that inspiring but we cycled through some wonderful places like San Benedetto Po and Carpi and up to the very quiet Guiglia with great views back over the Po valley.

A few videos of the route.
