The Italian Job – day 3

Riva del Garda to Montova

After an early breakfast the day starts with a nice boat ride across the lake to Garda where we will begin cycling. After a short section by the lake the route goes up along quiet country lanes before dropping down to utilise a flat cycle path into the glorious and historic city of Verona. A fiddly but lovely ride through Verona offers the chance to have a look round. Following an uninspiring section away from Verona the route picks up cycle paths and quiet roads for the rest of the way to the historic city of Mantova (Mantua).  (Description based on route notes from Peak Tours).

Route from Garda to Montova (53 miles):

Elevation profile (ascent ~1200 feet):

A slow start as we waited for the ferry and to our surprise saw a mallard duck nesting in the top of one of the ferry terminal wooden posts! Unfortunately soon after departing we sailed into rain but thankful it stopped just as we got off and onto our bikes. Chris and I decided to miss out the busy Verona loop as it had started to rain and headed on to Mantova.

A few videos of the route.
