The Italian Job – day 11

Castrocaro to Ferrara

After leaving Castrocaro the route passes through the 16th century Medician town of Villa del Sole followed by a morning climb to a castle before some pleasant cycling through some vineyards. Later on the route passes through the lovely towns of Faenza and Imola and the latter’s famous racetrack. Then there are orchards and undulating farmland before the terrain becomes much flatter after lunch as it crosses the Po plain heading for the cracking city of Ferrara, Italy’s “Cycling City”.  (Description based on route notes from Peak Tours).

Route from Castrocaro to Ferrara (77 miles):

Elevation profile (ascent ~3100 feet):

A pleasant days cycling except for the sports car drivers racing closely past us we headed towards Imola! Ferrara is a fantastic place and on my list to visit again.

A few videos of the route.
