Sault to Moustier-Ste-Marie
Thankfully, a fairly flat day after yesterday’s trip up Mont Ventoux. Leaving Sault in the morning the route passes through more lavender fields and a number of ancient towns and villages of Provence. Then the scenery changes from scented fields to steep sided valleys with their stunted old trees. Later in the afternoon, as the route heads further east, a number of fantastic views open up, especially during the approach in to the picture postcard town of Moustier St Marie – one of the most picturesque villages in France perched on the cliff face at the western end of the Gorges du Verdon region. (Description based on route notes from Peak Tours).
